Fix Our Health-care System

The greatest asset of a nation is the health of its people.

- William J. Mayo, MD

The Facts

  • We spend over $4 trillion a year on our health-care system. We have the most expensive health-care system in the world, and we rank 55th out of 57 countries in the Bloomberg 2020 Health Efficiency Index.
  • More than $11 billion was spent on health-care lobbying from 1998 to 2022 compared to $2.9 billion for defense lobbying.
  • Our laws prevent the U.S. Government from negotiating the best prices for Medicare.
  • The health of the American people is poor. The average American today weighs 30 pounds more than the average American weighed 60 years ago, and over 40 percent of them are obese.

The Solutions

  • Provide Medicare 2.0 for every American citizen currently on Medicaid, on Medicare, or who does not have health insurance.
  • Basic nutritional information will be required on every food item for sale, whether in a restaurant, a grocery store, or at the ballpark.
  • Health-care related companies will be prohibited from making campaign donations so that the health-care industrial complex cannot take advantage of the American people.

A Bold Plan For America

The importance of an informed citizenship has never been higher than in today’s environment of misinformation. In this book, I’ve broken down America’s 14 biggest problems and provided nonpartisan, fact-based solutions on how we can solve them.
