Save Social Security and Expand It

How can we love our country and not love our countrymen, and loving them, reach out a hand when they fall, heal them when they are sick, and provide opportunities to make them self-sufficient so they will be equal in fact and not just in theory?

- Ronald Reagan

The Facts

  • It is projected that by 2035, the trust funds will be depleted, and Social Security will then be able to pay only about 75 cents on the dollar.
  • Demographics are not our friend, with more than 78 million Americans projected to be 65 or older by 2035, up from 56 million today.
  • There are 13 million children who live in poverty in the United States. 50 percent of those children receive support from Social Security.
  • In 2023, nearly 90 percent of workers aged 21 to 64 were protected by Social Security in the event of disability.

The Solutions

  • Scrap the Cap. Eliminate Social Security's cap on taxable income, which would bring an additional $190 billion into Social Security every year.
  • Raise the full retirement age.
  • Reform the Social Security Disability program.
  • Create the Every Kid Has A Chance program with the goal of reducing childhood poverty by 50 percent in the next 10 years and by 90 percent over the next 25 years.
